Sextortion Scams Just Got Personal: Protect Yourself from New Threats
Sextortion scams have evolved, now using photos of your home to intimidate you. Criminals claim they’ve hacked your devices and threaten to expose you unless you pay up. We threw together a few things you could look out for below.
The Threat: An email claiming they have compromising material and showing a picture of your house to scare you into paying.
Reality: They likely got the photo from public databases like Google Maps… nothing to do with hacking your devices. Don’t fall for their clownery.
Secure Devices: Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
Ignore and Report: Don’t engage with the scammer. Report the email to authorities and your email provider. More importantly, consider getting FATAL to protect you, so you don’t even have to worry 🙂
